Exploring Wi-Fi: the infinite possibilities of connecting the world
Release Time:2024-09-27 17:08Views:

In the wave of the digital age, there is a technology that is as ubiquitous as air. It is quietly changing our lives and promoting the development of the global economy, and that is Wi-Fi.

As the most commonly used wireless communication technology, Wi-Fi is not only the main medium for global Internet traffic, but also a powerful engine driving a global economic value of up to 3.5 trillion US dollars. Every year, more than 3.8 billion new devices equipped with Wi-Fi technology are introduced to the world, and the number of Wi-Fi devices in use worldwide has reached an astonishing 19.5 billion.

Behind these strings of numbers is the continuous evolution and innovation of Wi-Fi technology, and our unremitting efforts to create a smarter and more convenient life for us.

1. Wi-Fi Era: Speed and Passion Driven Together

Looking back over the past two decades, every leap forward in Wi-Fi technology has profoundly impacted the way the world operates and communicates. Wi-Fi technology, based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) wireless communication standard 802.11, has been destined to be extraordinary since its inception. From the initial low-speed connection to today's fast experience, each generation of Wi-Fi upgrades has brought faster data transmission speeds, lower latency and better user experience.

Whether in homes, offices or public places, Wi-Fi has penetrated into every aspect of our lives and become an invisible link connecting the world.

2. Identify Wi-Fi device technology

To allow users to easily identify devices that deliver the latest Wi-Fi experience, the Wi-Fi Alliance has introduced simplified generational names. These names are like the "ID cards" of Wi-Fi technology, intuitively telling users which generation of Wi-Fi technology the device they are using belongs to. When you are in the market for a smartphone, tablet, or other wireless device, these generational names will become one of the important indicators for you to judge the performance of the device.

3. Identify Wi-Fi network connection

Wi-Fi devices also allow us to intuitively understand the status of network connections through the visual design of the user interface (UI). When the signal indicator on the device screen displays a visualization with the number 6, it means that you are enjoying the high-speed, low-latency network experience brought by Wi-Fi 6.

Products requiring Wi-Fi certification usually include but are not limited to the following categories:
1. Consumer electronics: such as smartphones, tablets, game consoles, etc.
2. Household and commercial appliances: For example, smart appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators that support Wi-Fi.
3. Computers and accessories: laptops, desktops, wireless network cards, USB Wi-Fi adapters, etc.
4. Network infrastructure equipment: such as wireless routers, access points (APs), switches, controllers, etc.
5. Peripheral devices: printers, scanners, network storage devices, etc.
6. Wearable devices: smart watches, health monitoring devices, etc.
7. Car navigation products.

Wi-Fi certification ensures that products meet industry-recognized standards for interoperability, security and a range of application-specific protocols. Products must pass the Wi-Fi Alliance's rigorous testing before they can use the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ mark. In addition, different countries and regions may have different regulatory requirements. For example, wireless products sold in Europe need to be tested according to the RED directive and obtain the CE mark; products sold in the United States need to meet FCC requirements; products sold in China need to pass SRRC certification.

In general, any device with Wi-Fi capabilities that is intended to be sold globally needs to pass the corresponding Wi-Fi certification and comply with the regulatory requirements of the target market.
