1. What is the WIFI 7's

The Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be, also known as extremely high-throughput EHT) is the next-generation Wi-Fi standard. It builds on Wi-Fi 6 with advanced technologies such as 320 MHz bandwidth, 4096-QAM, Multi-RU, and multi-link operations, providing higher data transmission rates and lower latency. Wi-Fi 7 is expected to support a throughput of up to 23 Gbps, about three times that of Wi-Fi 6.

2. Wi-Fi 7 is different from previous generations of Wi-Fi technology

Wi-Fi 7 significantly outperforms previous generations of technology in terms of speed, connectivity, and adaptation. It delivers higher-quality video streaming, a smoother cloud gaming experience, and supports AR and VR applications with strict requirements for high-throughput and low-latency. In addition, Wi-Fi 7 can also effectively solve the network congestion and interference problems, especially for areas with dense equipment or overlapping networks.

3. A much wider channel

Wi-Fi 7 supports wider channels, thus enabling higher data transmission efficiency. The 2.4GHz band contains 1120 MHz channels, while the 5GHz band has 45 channels and can be combined with a width of 40 MHz or 80 MHz. The 6GHz frequency band supports 60 channels, and the Wi-Fi 6E has a channel width of up to 160 MHz. The Wi-Fi 7 is further expanded to 320 MHz, significantly improving the data transmission capability.

4. Multiple-link operation

One of the most anticipated features of Wi-Fi 7 is the multi-link operation (MLO). The previous Wi-Fi standard only established connections between the devices in a single frequency band, while the Wi-Fi 7 router can be connected to the devices simultaneously through channels in multiple frequency bands. For example, a router can simultaneously establish connections in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands, thus enabling wider channels and higher data transmission efficiency.

Multi-link operations can not only significantly improve the transmission speed, but also optimize the network performance. The Wi-Fi 7 router can dynamically select the best channel based on the network congestion and interference situations, thus maintaining a stable connection and low latency. In addition, the MLO makes up for the short coverage of the 6GHz band, ensuring seamless network connectivity as users move around their homes.

5. higher QAM

Orthogonal amplitude modulation (QAM) is a technique for transmitting and receiving data in radio frequency waves. The higher the QAM, the more efficient the data transmission is. Wi-Fi 7 supports 4K-QAM, while Wi-Fi 6 supports 1024-QAM, while Wi-Fi 5 only supports 256-QAM. From Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6, the QAM boost increases the data rates by about 25%. The Wi-Fi 7's 4096-QAM further improves its peak performance by 20%. However, higher QAM modulation also requires higher signal intensity and environmental interference. Therefore, Wi-Fi 7 needs stronger signal and better network environment in practice to fully exploit its performance advantages.

6. Application scenarios of Wi-Fi 7

The high performance of Wi-Fi 7 enables it to meet the needs of a variety of emerging applications, including but not limited to:

1. Hd video streaming: support 4K / 8K video playback without lag.

2. Video / voice conference: To provide a clearer and more stable remote collaboration experience.

3. Wireless gaming: Low latency and high throughput to ensure a smooth gaming experience.

4. Real-time collaboration: support multi-person online collaboration and real-time data synchronization.

5. Cloud / edge computing: Provide high-speed and low-latency network support for the industrial Internet of Things.

6. Immersive AR / VR: Meet the requirements of high bandwidth and low latency for VR and augmented reality.

7. Interactive telemedicine: support high-definition video diagnosis and data transmission of telemedicine devices.

From a technology and market perspective, Wi-Fi 7 has a huge future. In the future, mobile phones, PCs, tablets, TVS and other devices supporting Wi-Fi 7 will be launched one after another, which will accelerate the maturity of the Wi-Fi 7 industry chain. At that time, whether in home, office or public places, you will be able to enjoy the fast network experience of Wi-Fi 7 anytime, anywhere, opening a new chapter of digital life.
