3. Bluetooth SIG Certification process

1)Preparation: related documentation and test prototype

2)Project establishment

lBuild the project on the SIG website

lSelect the design product type (final product, subsystem, component, development tool, or test equipment)

lSelect the Design-supported Bluetooth specification features

lVerify functional compliance using the automatic consistency inspector in Launch Studio

lGenerate and download the Test plan

 

3)Certification test

lSelect a Bluetooth Certification Laboratory (BQTF)

lProvide the test prototype and the corresponding documentation to the laboratory

lThe laboratory performs the test and after all test items pass, generates the test report

 

4)Pay the Bluetooth certification fee

Submit Bluetooth certification fee to SIG to obtain Bluetooth Certificate number (DID)

5)Create and store the Compliance folders

Including program references (PRD) (e. g. product description, design information and test evidence)

6)Complete product certification

Uploading the test statement (SDOC) and test evidence report

Complete the certification

5. Bluetooth Technology Alliance latest Qualification Program Reference document QPRDv3

1) QPRDv3 Update

On June 11,2024, the Bluetooth SIG Board approved the upcoming changes to the Bluetooth qualification process, as described in the latest QPRDv3.update:

lAdded subset design (Section 3.2.2.2.1)

lAdded a reassessed design (Section 3.2.2.2.2)

lRemoved the design lock option

2) The 3 phases of the QPRDv3

lPhase 1 (January-March): Develop new qualification tools and launch membership education and support resources, including new knowledge base articles and updated Bluetooth qualification advisory exams.

lPhase 2 (April-June): Bluetooth Qualification Board, Bluetooth Testing and Interoperability Committee, Bluetooth Qualification Consultant and Bluetooth Qualification Testing Authority to conduct user testing together; issue an updated schedule; and seek final approval from the Bluetooth SIG Board to continue with the deployment of the tool and QPRD.

lPhase 3 (June): Complete all preparations, launch new tools, launch the QPRD, and hold a webinar for members, officially released on July 1.

3) QPRDv3 After the effective date

lCore.ICS will replace SUM.ICS and PROD.ICS.

lQPRDv3 Will introduce a new core layer. Support will be automatically determined based on the LL and LMP functionality

lBR / EDR Safety (SEC)

lLE Safety (LESEC)

lHCI, 4.0HCI and AMPHCI, will be merged into a single HCI layer, which will be divided into upper / lower HCI

6. PTS test tool update

lPTS 8.5.4 Release: – June 6, 2024 – Intel‘s BE200 Bluetooth Radio module support and bug fixes

lPTS 8.6.0 – TCRL support – TTCN conversion released – BR/EDR Test modules reimplemented – QPRD v.3

 

7. Bluetooth high-precision ranging technology

lChannel Sounding Is an upcoming feature that, once completed and adopted, will estimate the distance between two Bluetooth low-power (LE) devices more accurately than using existing technologies (including arrival Angle (AoA) and signal strength (RSSI) measurement).

lChannel Sounding, Previously known as High Precision Distance Measurement (HADM), is the latest of these innovations, which adds a leap to Bluetooth distance measurement capability.

lAlthough there are still some errors in BLE phase ranging (PBR), it is greatly improved compared with the use of RSSI measurement, and it is not as more hardware demanding as Angle measurement.
