1. What is WPA3?

2. Important update points of WPA3
The test content involved in this update is WPA3-Personal roaming test. According to the latest regulations, starting from December 1, 2024, all newly submitted STA products must successfully pass WPA3-Personal roaming test items 5.8.3, 5.8.6 and 5.8.7 (for Wi-Fi certification testing) 6GHz band).
3.Interpretation of new test items
The new test project mainly verifies STAUT’s security mechanism during roaming, including:
1) In WPA3-Personal Transition mode, STAUT connects to AP1 in WPA2-Personal only mode, roams to AP2 that supports WPA3-Personal Transition mode, and then roams back to AP1 again, and repeats this process for verification. STAUT always uses SAE AKM for certification throughout the testing process.
2) When STAUT scans AP1 in WPA2-Personal mode at 2.4/5 GHz and AP2 in WPA3-Personal Only mode at 2.4/5 GHz or 6GHz with the same SSID through the UI, it should only Display an SSID. When STAUT is manually connected to the network and then shuts down one of the APs, STAUT can successfully roam seamlessly between broadcasts with the same SSID, and the roaming process does not require user operation. (This test item requires manual configuration through the Wi-Fi user interface).
3) STAUT configures WPA3-Personal Transition mode, first connects to WPA3-Personal Transition mode AP1 in the 2.4/5 GHz band, then roams to WPA3-Personal Only mode AP2 in the 6 GHz band as required, and then roams back to the original AP1 again, and repeats Follow this procedure to verify. STAUT always uses SAE AKM for certification throughout the testing process. (This item is only applicable to products that support 6GHz)
4. Added Forward Compatibility test specifications
