IEC 62133-2:2017+AMD1: New edition, 2021

On July 15, 2021, the IEC website published an updated version of the IEC62133-2:2017 standard, namely the 2021 version.

The new version changes as follows:

1. In the updated standard, the shelving time of cell constant temperature charging in Section 7.1.2 is revised from 1h and 4h to 1h to 4h respectively, and the charging mode is revised from constant voltage to constant current charging first and then constant voltage charging.

2. Extrusion test in Section 7.3.5. The updated standard deletes the description of upper limit charging temperature in the original standard, and the new standard makes it clear that both upper and lower limit charging temperatures need to be tested.

3. Section 7.3.6 Overcharge test, the revised test requirements are described as follows: If the battery is equipped with a charge protection circuit, it should be able to protect the cell from fire or explosion.

4. Section 7.3.9 to force internal short-circuit test has corrected the description of test temperature from the original 10℃/45℃ to the lower/upper limit of charging temperature declared by the manufacturer.
