With Android Auto, you can use Google maps, music, podcasts, and basic information about the weather. Recently, foreign technology media 9to5Google found some hints by analyzing the code of Android Auto v12.3 and v12.4 applications, especially AM, FM, HD Radio, and DAB (digital audio Broadcasting). While Android Auto does not yet support these features, it may be implemented in the near future. However, Sirius XM (satellite radio) has not been mentioned, so it may not be supported, but the feature can still be used by other apps.
While radio may not be the focus of attention, if this feature is introduced, it will make the car audio experience more unified, and may also improve safety due to the ease of operation. Currently, the switch back to the native entertainment system to use the radio, which may not be smooth compared to the Android Auto experience.
The new radio controls are the biggest change coming soon, and it is unclear how specifically the radio interface, how many preset radio stations can be saved, or other details. While Google is clearly testing it, that doesn't mean these features will be available to users anytime soon.
It's also worth noting that Google has also introduced some minor changes that are already in effect. First, Android Auto will now offer performance optimization advice when the phone overoverheated. Second, it removes many wallpaper-related options, making it more dependent on the background of the phone itself.
