On May 1,2023, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan revised Appendix 12 of the Electrical and Safety Code and released the latest version of the standard J62368-1 (2023). The standard is based on the third version of IEC 62368-1 (2018), adding local Japanese differences.
The old standard J62368-1 (2020) cannot be used after April 30,2026, select J62368-1 (2023) or J62368-1 (2020) from the corresponding version of the CB. The existing Diamond PSE J62368-1 (2020) certificate remains valid for 5 years, not subject to the date limit of 2026-04-30, and is available to the validity period on the certificate.
Note: For the circular PSE logo, the S mark needs to complete the J62368-1 (2020) upgrade to J62368-1 (2023) by April 30,2026.
一、What is the Japanese PSE certification?
1) PSE certification is a mandatory safety certification in Japan to prove that electrical and electronic products have passed the Japan Electrical and Raw Material Safety Act (DENAN Law) or the International IEC standard.
2) Japanese DENTORL law (Electrical device and material control law) must pass safety certification when entering the Japanese market.
二、Japan PSE certification product category
1)PSE Diamond certification--Specific electrical products (specified products), including 116 products; Common typical products: mobile phone charger, transformer;
2) PSE circular certification--nonspecific electrical products (non-specified products), including 341 products;
三、The PSE certification process
1. Submit application form and product materials;
2. Laboratory review of the application materials;
3. Submit the samples for testing;
4. Issue the test qualification report;
5. Factory inspection (non-specific electrical supplies do not require factory inspection);
6. Issue a certificate.
四、Information required for the PSE certification
1. Application submission materials: relevant application form
2. Test preparation data:
1) CB report (including differential test in Japan);
2) circuit diagram;
3) PCB design drawing related to safety regulations;
4) specifications of transformer and coil parts;
5) list of key components and certificates;
6) Japanese use manual or assembly manual;
7) Japanese nameplate and warning sign (including PSE mark and notified supplier name);
8) structural data table;
9) factory production list and calibration certificate (for factory inspection).
