First, what is UKCA certification? What is the background?
UKCA: Full name (UK Conformity Assessed); It is a product certification evaluation procedure in the UK. It is a certification mode in which DOC is signed after the assessment test is passed by accredited institutions and laboratories in accordance with the requirements of the UK product safety regulations.
On January 30, 2020, the EU officially approved the UK to leave the EU. After Brexit, the UK will establish its own market access system in accordance with national laws, and end the transition period after January 1, 2022, and officially use the UK (UKCA symbol). The relevant goods exported to the UK will no longer apply the CE mark, the products sold to the UK must be affixed with the UKCA mark! On January 1, 2021, the process of the UK leaving the EU will be officially completed.
Tip: UKCA certification and CE certification, is also mandatory statutory certification requirements. That is to say, as long as the products within the coverage of UKCA-related product regulations, they must obtain UKCA certification before entering the UK market. Otherwise, it is illegal behavior, and they will face various possible punishment measures such as failure to clear customs, fine and recall.
Second, where does UKCA apply? Does the UK all use UKCA?
Type of certification | Symbol of signs | Area of application |
CE certification UKCA certification | The CE mark remains valid | Wales,England,Scotland, Northern Ireland |
The CE mark (EU Conformity Assessment Body), the UKNI mark (mandatory third party conformity assessment using a UK body) cannot be used alone, and can be used together with the CE mark |
Northern Ireland | |
UKCA certification | Enable the new UKCA logo | Wales, England, Scotland |
2.1 For products launched in the UK market before 1 January 2021, the enterprise will have a transition period of one year to adapt to the new requirements, during which the CE mark can still be used until 1 January 2022.
2.2 Current main product directives of UKCA and corresponding EU Directives:

Three. What is the UKCA certification process?
3. What is the UKCA certification process? 3.1 Data Requirements for UKCA Certification?
Conformance declaration method (wired products) : product specification; Use EN or BS standard, BS1363-CNAS report with plug;
Organization certification (wireless products) : instruction manual, circuit schematic diagram, schematic operation description, block diagram, P, B, B, M table, product label and position antenna book; Use EN or BS standard specifications, with plug need to provide BS1363-CNAS report;
3.2 If the product has been certified by UKCA, what are the requirements for the UKCA logo?
3.2.1 If the UKCA logo is to be enlarged or reduced, it shall be scaled to a height of at least 5mm, unless a different minimum size is specified in the relevant regulations;
3.2.2 The UKCA logo should be clearly visible and easy to read
3.2.3 The number and requirements of UKCA certified samples?
EMC/LVD wired products: 2 prototypes;
RF wireless products: 2 finished prototypes, 2 engineering machines (one radiation prototype, one conduction prototype);
3.2.4 UKCA Certification Cycle?
SRD short-distance products, test 3-5 working days (excluding EMC test unqualified time), issue 3-5 working days;
License communication products, test 5-7 working days (excluding EMC test unqualified time), issue 3-5 working days;
Four. How to verify the safety of the product when it is exported to the UK?
The BS standard is used, and the content is the same as the EN standard except for the difference in plug and socket. At present, the international standard IEC reporting templates for EU differences and UK differences are still merged together.
The difference between EU and UK plug and socket: the European standard of 2.5A is EN 50075 and 16A uses VDE 0620-1, while the UK standard of plug and socket is BS 1363.
